At DogDeli, our philosophy has always been simple: dogs are family, and family deserves the best. That belief started in our own kitchen, long before DogDeli became what it is today.
One year, as our dog’s birthday was coming up, we found ourselves doing what so many dog parents do - looking for a “birthday treat.” Everywhere we looked, the options were mostly the same: cookies, frosted biscuits, sugary-looking treats shaped like bones or cupcakes.
And we stopped and asked ourselves: Why are cookies the go-to birthday treat for dogs?
Sure, they’re cute… but are they really the best choice?
Why Cookies Didn’t Feel Right
As dog lovers who care about nutrition, we couldn’t shake the feeling that cookies just didn’t match how we wanted to celebrate our dogs. Many traditional dog cookies are heavy on fillers, flours, and unnecessary ingredients, things dogs don’t need and don’t always digest well.
We wanted something healthier, more nutritious, and genuinely exciting for dogs. Something we’d feel good about giving, not just on birthdays, but anytime.
That’s when the idea clicked: What if a birthday gift for dogs was more like a tasting box of their favorite foods, instead of dessert?
Creating Something Better Than Cookies
We started pulling together the treats our dogs loved most: real, protein-rich, natural, air-dried snacks made from high-quality meats. Chicken, beef, turkey, pork. Crunchy, chewy, savory treats that dogs go wild for.
Instead of baking them into sugary shapes, we kept them simple and natural. Air-drying allows us to preserve flavor and nutrients, so dogs get treats that are not only delicious, but also wholesome and satisfying.
The idea quickly evolved into what is now the DOGDELI Birthday Treat Box, a curated gift box filled with a variety of our most popular treats, including jerky, chips, crunchy sticks, and even our fun Doggy Pretzels.

When we tested the box with our own dogs (and plenty of friends’ dogs), the reaction was immediate: tails wagging, noses sniffing, and treats disappearing fast.
That’s when we knew we were onto something special.
